A jilted lover in Phalama Village in Mutale, Limpopo, SA, walked over to his girlfriend's house on Saturday carrying a big knife and an axe, and furiously chopped down his ex-girlfriend's door.
Then he dragged Roseline Mushaavhathu outside and in full view of horrified neighbours, killed her with the knife.
The crazed man then ran to his sister's house nearby where he hanged himself.
Roseline was a grade 10 pupil at Tshidimbini Secondary School and mum of a two-year-old boy.
Neighbour Udivhamudzimu Ntsieni (19) said she witnessed the drama.
The dead girl's grandfather, Robert Maranda (64), said: "She was everything to us. She even used her grant money for everyone in the family as none of us is employed.
"We are still in a state of shock and we do not know how to cope," he said.
Mutale police spokesman Simon Nyambeni confirmed the incident, saying they had opened inquest and murder dockets.
