52-year-old Alphons Puletsi from Sebokeng zone 11, Vaal, SA, has lost his life savings of R196000 to a traditional healer who has now gone into hiding.

He said in September 2013 he went to see the traditional healer because he had stomach pains.

"He told me I needed cleansing and he also said if I had money he could multiply it by praying," said Alphons.

The traditional healer reportedly said he needed three goats and a cow to perform rituals and speak to the ancestors.

Alphons took his savings and went into a dark room with the traditional healer at his offices.

"We closed our eyes and he spoke in a language I didn't understand. When the lights were put back on, there was a steel box full of my money, which had keys," said Alphons.



"He asked me to lock the box and take the keys with me, saying he'd phone me when the ancestors blessed the money. I haven't seen him since then.

"Whenever I phoned him, he told me to wait another week.

"Recently, I went to his office but there was another person there.

"The new person says he doesn't know the sangoma. When I call the sangoma, he says he's in Durban."

The cops say they can't help him because he gave his money away willingly.

The cops told Alphons to go to small claims court to get his money back.
