A 13-year-old boy was groomed online by an abuser who turned out to be his own father.

Scrolling through her young son's Facebook inbox, Jeanette Morrison came across sexually explicit messages from what appeared to be a pretty 19-year-old girl, teasing him to send her indecent pictures of himself.

And, although Jeanette didn't realise it, Barry, 13, had already done just that, using the webcam on the PC his estranged dad had bought him.

Like so many parents, she knew of the dangers of online grooming by child abusers using fake profile images as bait – and it was clear her boy had fallen into the trap.



But the full chilling truth behind the terrifying messages was more shattering than she could ever have imagined.

Because the pervert stalking her son was not just some stranger trawling the internet for victims who had stumbled upon innocent Barry by chance.

It was Ian, the runaway father he had recently been reunited with.

"You do everything you can to keep your children safe online," says Jeanette. "But I'd never have believed danger could be lurking so close to us. What kind of man grooms his own son?"

The abusive father is now behind bars.
